About Cranio Sacral:
Cranio sacral is an incredibly gentle yet profound form of engagement with what we call the patient's ‘system’, which means not only the physical structures, fascia, muscle, bone, nerves etcetera, but also the subtle energetics of the emotional or mental holdings that can be found within these.
Through gentle hand positioning on the body and very subtle manipulations cranio sacral can help restore a sense of well-being and health for a range of problems, and is completely safe to be practised with babies, pregnant mothers and the elderly as much as it is with adults.
It may be particularly helpful in releasing old patterns of tension or 'holding' from long-standing injuries, sometimes even forgotten to the patient themselves, but also in releasing shock from recent traumas such as a nasty fall, or the experience of giving birth or being born.
Patients often report a feeling of centeredness, coming back to themselves, feeling whole again, after a session and may continue to come for regular treatments even after the initial symptoms have disappeared to maintain this sense of well being and go deeper into healing as one might with a psychotherapist.
Cranio sacral is sometimes considered the psychotherapy for the body due to the sense of having been deeply heard and the learning to deeply hear and feel oneself that can arise in sessions.
For April the sessions are very patient-led and she aims to create and allow an environment that ecourages a sense of safety and being held, to facilitate a deeper sense of letting go.
Cranio sacral is not a preset system of techniques applied to the person after hearing their symptoms, but rather an engagement with what is there and listening to what the body ‘system’ needs in that present moment, leaving room for change and relaxation.
